Escape From Paradise

Escape from Paradise is about a relatively small island in the Caribbean.  The island has a hotel resort on it, and both the island and the resort are named Paradise.  The story starts off with the island and resort as a tropical, sunny, paradise.  However, when two rogue hurricanes develop and begin to collide just as they hit the island, Paradise becomes a living hell.
The character Ben (Johnny Depp) and his wife Jill (Julia Roberts) are on a dream vacation with their friend Richard (Gary Oldman) at Paradise.  Although, when the two rogue hurricanes hit, their lovely stay at the resort becomes a necessary struggle to escape.  While all of this is happening on the island Richard (Gary Oldman)’s wife, Elizabeth (Jodie Foster) is back in Washington, D.C., as the character Elizabeth (Jodie Foster) is a government meteorologist.  Then, the character Elizabeth (Jodie Foster) notices two anomalies, near Paradise Island, that she believes will develop into the two rogue hurricanes.  However, nobody is willing to believe that what she says is correct until, quite typically, it is too late to help anyone on the island until after the storms have passed, effectively leaving anyone on the island on their own.
However, the character Elizabeth (Jodie Foster) is not satisfied with that conclusion.  She believes that a submarine would be capable of going deep enough under the water so that it would essentially go underneath the storms, and would be able to get to the island.  Although, the man that she has to convince in order to get a submarine is her father, Rear Admiral James Carter (Richard Dean Anderson), the head of the U.S. Navy’s submarine program.  He eventually agrees with her and arranges for them to take a rescue submarine to Paradise Island.
Meanwhile, on Paradise Island the couple and their friend struggle to find a safe place to stay in an attempt to wait out the storms.  Furthermore, finding safety becomes increasingly difficult as heavier winds and rains begin to collapse many of the structures on the island.  Their last resort is a bit of a gamble, and that is to seek safety in a small boathouse by the docks, which is the only structure on the island made solely of concrete.  The three of them do end up getting to the boat house, and they end up waiting there for and extensive period of time.
Back on the submarine the trip to the island is not proceeding as well as was hoped.  The submarine eventually hits a very rough section of water where the storm was fairly deep in the water.  The helmsman of the submarine was increasingly unable to hold the ship on its course.  It is at this point when the entire crew of the submarine and the people trapped on the island must place their fate in the hands of the U.S. Navy’s most decorated, and most experienced, helmsman; Elizabeth (Jodie Foster)’s father Rear Admiral James Carter (Richard Dean Anderson).  Miraculously, the submarine makes it to the island, but has no way of knowing where the trapped people are.
However, Richard (Gary Oldman) realizes that his wife, being a government meteorologist, would have noticed the storms, and would have enlisted the aid of her father, being a U.S. Navy Admiral, in rescuing them.  So Richard (Gary Oldman) decides to climb up to one of the small windows in the boat house and notices the familiar rectangular bump on the water of a submarine.  So the three of them in the boat house grab some of the emergency flares, and go out on the dock and light them.  Elizabeth (Jodie Foster) notices the flares and instructs her father to bring the submarine in close enough to get the people on board.  Then, they all have the challenge of getting back home.
